I worked with James and Steve in purchasing my 2005 U70. James and Steve were both very prompt and professional in their communications and in providing me information. I would recommend them to a friend.
Had a very easy experience and a professional salesman.

Thanks to Steve I finished my Saturday with a nice CPO Volvo S60. And I got a great deal for my trade-in Chevy too. Negotiations passed great, no pressure, no trick like in other places.
Steve was super helpful answering all my questions during test-drive and called few days later to make sure that I’m happy with my Volvo. Even called me to let me know that they found an extra key for my car and I can pick it up for free.

I looked at cars at a number of places, and the reason I went with Barrier was because of Chris. He is super nice and helpful, no pressure, and most of all made me feel at ease with the car buying process (this was the first time that I ever bought by myself). Plus he put up with my kids climbing all over the cars.

I brought in my 2012 Volvo S60 R for its one year maintenance plus a leaking tire (Nail) and was informed it would take 1.5 hours. Almost to the minute after 1.5 hours the car was done at a price that was about half of what I expected. Service people were very professional and went over everything that had been done to the car. I will for sure return for all future maintenance as this was outstanding service!

2010 S80 T6 Barrier had heated seats installed. Work was done under scheduled time . Barrier provided a car. Barrier cares about you and your car . All the staff is trained to take Care and most of your car . Outstanding service
My 2006 Volvo S80 had a 45,000 mile service. I was able to use some promotional discounts to help defray the total cost. All work was done on time and satisfactorily.
Thanks to the service manager who told me how to get my 2000 volvo V70XC started when the ignition lock “hung up”. I could drive the car to the dealership where they ordered a new Ignition Switch (lock) from Sweeden specifically to match my car/key. This took a while and I got my car back as predicted, after 10 days. Thank you very much for the ‘loaner’.
The service at Barrier is the reason I drive up to Bellevue from Federal Way rather than visit a closer dealership! They make every part of caring for my Volvo easy from asking questions about possible problems, to scheduling service, to getting a loaner for the day, to explanation of exactly what was done on the car. They’re wonderful!
We have three Volvos that we service at Barrier. This past service I was thinking on my drive in that I was actually looking forward to servicing my car. I knew that Gavin would be there to help with the service experience and that Rafael had a loaner car waiting for me. Could not have been better! Thanks!
This was my first experience with Barrier’s service department. I am a new Volvo owner, although we have had several Barrier Volvos in the household over the years and always had a positive impression. I brought my gently used C30 (new to me) to have a protective coating applied to the windshield and headlights. On check-in, I also ordered a full set of protective rubber mats. I called the next a.m. to ask if I could change the color of the mats if it wasn’t too late. My representative, Chris I believe, was extremely accommodating took care of the change. A good beginning, I’d say!
I’ve owned my 2004 S80 for almost 9 years now. I have always had my car serviced by Barrier. And while it is unusual in this day, the faces of the service staff at Barrier Volvo have remained the same during this time. I appreciate the consistency of staff, they are great to work with.

Wayne Thiessen was absolutely incredible. No high pressure sales, just great service with a casual sense of humor and very personable. He even linked my wife’s iPhone using the Bluetooth feature in our new car before we drove off the lot. Wonderful service from a dealership network (Barrier) with an outstanding reputation for community service.
Came in for a routine check up at 133,000 miles. Your records reminded us that I also needed pads and rotors replaced, with a new battery included. Wish I knew why this one failed. The first lasted for almost 100,000 miles. But now everything is back to ship-shape and hopefully no work for some time. This is still the best riding and driving car I have ever owned.
Service advisor Erik went the extra mile to find that my vehicle was still under the extended warranty, he looked through my file and found the crack radiator would be covered. I was not aware that it would be covered. I thanked him for the attention to details.

This is my first Volvo. I love the vehicle for it’s performance and style. It is one vehicle that has few to no problems. The service at the dealership is great! This will not be the last Volvo in my life. I am a convert.

I have been very happy with the sale, recall service and “check engine” service of my S60 T5. I love being able to have a free car wash anytime. Having called on a Wednesday or Thursday about a “check engine” light, I found it inconvenient to wait until Monday AM for service in order to get a loaner. My needs require a loaner not a shuttle.
I wouldn’t take my Volvo anywhere else but to Barrier Motors in Bellevue, WA. Reece has helped me on several previous occasions. He is always most pleasant and courteous. I appreciate that. Like I mentioned above, I wouldn’t go anywhere else for service and/or when it comes time to purchase a new vehicle.
I purchased a pre-owned C30V, 2008. We had stopped for my partner to see what you had on the lot for his future reference as he is planning an upgrade in about 6 months. I had been test-driving Toyotas earlier that day, also for a planned upgrade in a few months. We spotted the C30V right away and inquired about the mileage and price, which were right in my target. As it turned out, the salesperson, Wayne Thiessen, drives a later model of the same car and was very knowledgeable about its features. We appreciated that your staff stayed late to finalize everything (we had come late in the day and did not plan to purchase anything). I haven’t bought a car in 20 years, and was a little overwhelmed to start with. But your team was very patient with my caution and put me at ease. I already had a good impression of Barrier from riding along with my partner purchased his last 3 cars there and hearing his report of good experiences with service.
I am not impressed very often or easily, but my trip to get my car serviced I was very impressed with all points. From first pulling in to when I left I couldn’t ask for anything better. You have a customer for as long as you’re willing to have me. Thank you.

This is our 3rd purchase from Barrier Volvo. All past experiences were great but this one was truly exceptional. Our salesman, James, was thorough in explaining all the features of the car, and he searched for the best loan rate, he was very knowledgeable about all aspects of our trade-in and purchase. Most of all he was very considerate that everything he explained to us we understood and felt comfortable with. This was the best car buying experience we have ever had.
I went out of my way to purchase my 2007 S-80 as a CPO with 100,000 coverage. I have never had a problem with any of my Volvo’s in the past but it was a comforting thought. When I heard a little noise up in the left front corner, I just called the service desk and set up an appointment. They were ready to take my car in, had a loaner prepared and I returned at the end of the day to a fully replaced wheel bearing and a perfectly running S-80. The cost, zero. Great execution on everyone’s part. Thank you.
There may be less expensive ways of maintaining a nice vehicle like our Volvo XC90, but we continue to come to Barrier primarily for the professional and reliable service, but also for the extras that really make a difference like free loaners and car washes.
I continue to be extremely satisfied by the service support I receive from Erik Bryar. I’ve now worked with Erik for nine years.
While always satisfied with the service provided on my 2006 XC90, my satisfaction is topped off by Erik Byar as he has been assisting me ever since I purchased my vehicle. Great service is always welcomed but it is especially wonderful to always be continuous and from the beginning (about 98k miles ago).
We have now purchased our fourth Volvo from Barrier. The experience was FANTASTIC (as it has always been). Sue Frank, our outstanding sales person (from whom we have purchased all of our Volvo vehicles), takes the time to listen exactly what we want, doesn’t pressure us on things we don’t, and follows up to make sure we are completely satisfied. Plus, the service department is top-notch… fully explaining the service and always exceeding our expectations on the time it will take to complete. I brought my 1995 Volvo 850 Turbo in for service because I thought maybe the front brake pads needed replacing. However, I was told that the front break pads still had some life left and did not need replacement. This kind of honest and courteous service keeps me coming back to Barrier Volvo of Bellevue. Brought in a 2011 Volvo XC60 for factory scheduled maintenance, plus checking for some “issues” I brought up myself. Was all correctly noted down, checked/repaired in time, and I got a detailed de-briefing on all issues when picking up the car again. All folks were very helpful, knowledgeable, and customer focused. Salesperson Don French provided a welcoming & no pressure atmosphere. He was very patient and understanding and spent the extra time we needed to find the right car for us. Service writer Eric Bryer recommended Don to us & took the time to walk me through the mechanical aspects of the car. Brought my car in for a transmission problem. Had taken it into a transmission repair/rebuild shop and the did not fix it. Took it to dealer and they contacted Volvo to help me out with this issue. My transmission was replaced and my car is GREAT now. I love my car and did not want to buy a new one at this time. I am very happy with all the treatment, service, loaner vehicle, Chris Burns and the whole Volvo team for a job outstandingly done. Never going to other repair shop again!!
I bought a 2005 XC90. The price was competitive and I bought the car at Barrier as I thought the car looked well cared for by previous owner. People I came in contact with were all very pleasant and professional. After paying for the car, the delivery person noted a display message indicating an issue with the traction control device. Barrier absorbed the cost of repair and took care of it promptly.
Every time I bring in my Volvo XC90, I receive outstanding service. The work is done right and they have always been able to quickly shuttle me to my workplace. I highly recommend Barrier Volvo.

My husband and I are volunteer Bible Teachers… We work part time to support ourselves in this work…So money can be tight at times… Which is why I hold my breath whenever we have to take our Volvo in for an unexpected service appt. That being said…We have always had a pleasant experience at Barrier. They go out of their way to help and work with your budget… Perhaps they are pricier than an independent shop but we get some peace of mind knowing that they use real Volvo parts and well trained technicians. Their loaner car program is great too!

The people at the dealership made the difference. They work as a team from explaining the product, finance options, and even helping me put on the accessories a day after I purchased. I did not want to wait for a service appointment to install the accessories so 3 sales folks team up to helped me install them. This was especially impressive because my sales person had the day off and was not one of them. This is what I mean by a real team effort at Barrier. Also, I found the same Volvo model at a competing dealship in the area, and even liked the color better at the other dealership, but I purchased from Barrier because of the interaction I had in making a decision. I highly recommend both Volvo and the dealership. I forgot to mention that I love the XC60 R-Design, it is awesome! I find that I like it even more each day. The worst service experience I have ever met, not one of, the worst! I spent 270 bucks and a whole day but they fixed nothing for me. They just told me there were some problems in my car but they didn’t give me the reason because they didn’t know either. Very disappointed, very unprofessional, and very rude. All they care is money, not customers!
We have reached out to this customer and are meeting with them on Wednesday to review their concerns.
Jeff Hunter was a stellar sales person. Jeff’s personal demeanor, no pressure approach to selling made my entire family feel comfortable and at ease during the entire shopping experience. I wanted a Volvo because of the BLIS system. That was my must-have feature. After arriving at Barrier Volvo early Saturday morning, my husband and I told the sales guy what I was looking for. We looked around some, he showed me the XC60s and I decided, that was what I wanted. Then began the searching. I’m not sure what exactly is done when your sales folks search but it takes forever. I told him what color I wanted, he searched and searched. Your dealership, other dealerships, etc. Then I picked a second color. More searching, talking to the manager, looked in the back room, etc. (I’m not sure where he went when searching, or why the Manager could do a better/different search?). Third color choice and more searching. Eventually, after we had been there for several hours, our guy found my 3rd color choice with roughly the features I was interested in but they couldn’t find the car. They saw it in the computer (?) but couldn’t locate it on the lot. More waiting and talking to the Manager while our sales guy did God knows what to search.
Eventually, my husband and I were starving and went to lunch around 3pm. We told the sales manager, who was sitting with us, that we were going to have a bite and come back. He suggested we take the car they were looking for to lunch since I test-drove one with different features. More waiting. So, we gave up and told him we’d be back in a half hour or so. While I was at lunch our sales guy called asking where we went and that he had finally located the XC60 in question. Apparently your staff doesn’t communicate very well. After returning from “lunch”, the car was waiting, we just had to sign the paperwork which required more waiting. Three hours in fact! To be honest, we should have left and came back. Part of that is my fault for not realizing it was after 6pm and I still hadn’t made it in to your finance guy. Plans with friends came and went and finally we got in to see the guy, signed all the paperwork, bought the undercoating or what-not and drove our nice new Volvo XC60 (third color choice) home, frustrated but relieved our ordeal was over … until I tried to change lanes. The car you sold me had no BLIS system in it! We turn around, but unfortunately, it was so late that the dealership was closed when we left and no one was around. I tried to call the phone number that the sales guy called from at lunch but it went to a recording which did NOT give me the option to leave a message (very frustrating).
The next morning (Sunday) I had to work so my husband took the Volvo back to the dealership to swap it for one that has BLIS. They put him in the lounge while they “searched”. After 45 minutes he wondered into the showroom and asked for my BMW X3 back. The salesman began to search for one with BLIS with my husband – what he was doing while my husband waited?? To be honest, at this point, my husband felt like he was put in the lounge to try to be waited out. Like if you ruined another day of our weekend, he’d just give up and keep the car without the one feature I really wanted.
After more “searching”, urges to just order a 2013 model (and wait who know how many months for it), and my husband’s increasingly agitated insistence that you bring my car around, he filled out the paperwork to return the XC60 and get my car back. Of course, you neglected to give us our down payment. So, half way home, he had to go back to the dealership. But it was my debit card we used, not his. You were unable to return the money so he agreed to stop by on his way to work and have you cancel the charge on my card. Even though he was there for nearly two hours on Sunday, the finance guy called me later that afternoon and asked how we wanted the down payment returned. More great communication between your people. Frustrated, I told him to just mail us the check. However, as I write this, I have no confidence he actually told anyone so my husband will have to stop by on his way home from work to double-check someone actually mailed a check or charge back the debit card. Today, I’m still driving my X3.
I’m still interested in an XC60 but there appears to be none with BLIS in any decent color anywhere. If I’m going to wait, EU delivery appeals to me, but regardless of my ultimate decision, it is difficult to see how Barrier Motors plays a part in that transaction. Buying a car shouldn’t take 7 hours on my one day off, much less the other hours trying to correct the mistake you made by sending me home without the 1 feature I really wanted. We went to Barrier Motors because we’d heard you have good customer service. Unfortunately, you didn’t live up to the hype, your commercials or even these reviews.
We reviewed the options on many new Volvos with you and your husband. You opted to go to lunch and think about your purchase with a copy of the options and packages on the vehicle you chose. When we met with your husband the next day and learned of your dissatisfaction with your purchase, we attempted to locate a vehicle that met your specifications, per your request. With the limited supply of new vehicles, this was not possible. We rescinded the sale, refunded your down payment, and returned your trade-in to you. . Thank you for your feedback and the opportunity to improve our processes. This was a repeat visit for an appt two weeks ago where the problem was initially identified based on error codes but then decided that it was another problem. Even though there were no error codes this time – the tech and service advisor advised that it was a 99% surity that the problem was due to the system identified on the earlier visit – in addition to the one that was fixed. I still think that Barrier’s service advisors and service in general in fantastic. I am always satisfied with my visits there as well as the results.

Hi!! Reece was absolutely wonderful! I had originally left 2 messages with Chris. He never returned my phone calls. Thank goodness my front axles didn’t fail while somewhere on the freeway! I persevered in my attempts to have Barrier Volvo repair my car. I could have easily gone elsewhere. Again Reece was great. I loved the loaner Volvo; i’m proud to have driven around town with your name in the window. I don’t get the sense I can have a regular/consistent service rep, but I would prefer to have one ‘go to guy’. Reece would be it! Thank you the opportunity to share my experience. I can’t wait until I can buy a new Volvo. It will be a while as I have at least another 100k + miles in my XC70!!!

I reported three issues. 1. Position Bulb error (not a broken bulb, but a loose fitting) 2. Keys not working (battery already replaced, not a battery issue). 3. AWD not working correctly. First response was 1. We changed the build 2. we changed the battery and 3. the AWD ‘had nothing wrong with it’. I spoke with the service person and explained that these were all incorrect. By the next day, everything was sorted. In the end, a great job was done and at all times the service was courteous and pleasant at all times. If we’d have got to the end game first time – these would have all been 5- Excellent ratings.

It’s almost a pleasure to bring a car into your service department. From the time Jose says hello, to waiting only a few minutes for a loaner, to picking the car up – everything is clean and efficient. The actual mechanical servicing is always excellent as well. By the way, Volvo is coming out with an electric diesel hybrid in ’12 or ’13 (V60, I think) and it looks to be a great car. I left some paper work at the service counter on it. The courtesy car introduced was a small size vehicle “Fiat”. I paid for $10.00 plus tax to avail a medium/large size vehicle to meet my traveling needs. It should have been nicer if a medium size vehicle is available and fuel economy. Overall Volvo service is EXCELLENT!

I just wanted to drop you a line and let you know that I had a great experience purchasing a Volvo at Barrier last week. The salesman was James Orrino and he made the process easy and was very knowledgable about the product. He was also good to spend some time with during the process, etc. I worked with Linde Hedge in finance and she was equally great to work with in the process. Thought I would let you know since you do some work with the nice people at Barrier.
I purchased my volvo from Barrier approximately 12 years ago and have utilized the service department extensively since then. Until this visit, the service has been exemplary. When I dropped off the car I specifically asked if I could take my main car key, leaving the key that does not open the glove box. It turns out that the main key was needed, requiring me to drive back to Barrier the following afternoon from my Seattle office. This additional trip consumed another hour of my time (of a very busy and demanding schedule) and required rescheduling a business meeting. The service rep provided a casual apology, but I don’t think realized the extent of the imposition and impact on my very busy schedule. I’m a big believer that mistakes will happen and that professionals take full responsibility for their actions. Consequently, this experience was fair to adequate as contrasted to the typical excellence. Please note that I wouldn’t have said anything if I had not received this inquiry and I will continue to use Barrier. I also do not want this to be viewed as negative towards the service rep. Rather, I suggest that there may be an opportunity to remind the reps of the importance of ownership in definining excellence. (and in retrospect I probably should have asked that Barrier drive to my Seattle office to simply pick up the key). Thanks for asking.

My service advisor was Chris Burns and I highly recommend him. He was terrific! Went over everything completely at drop off and pickup. Followed up with me during the day as I requested which was important since I brought the car for service from Oregon and was on a travel schedule.
My car was done before the time expected, everything was explained very well. I am from out of town and they replaced all of my bulbs so I will good to go for while. I was also given extra bulbs….they treated me very well and I was very happy!!
I got my car serviced at Volvo yesterday, and in the 15 years buying cars and taking my cars in for service, I really don’t think I have has someone so friendly and sincere with both his conversation on the phone and when I picked up my car! Blows doors on anyone I deal with at Mercedes!

I am a returning 13 year customer due to the service received. I have driven Volvos since 1979 and have never had a bad day. I intend to keep it up!
Our sales person and the manager were wonderful. Very respectable people. It was great that they stayed late to accomodate us though it was well past closing time on Saturday. The only thing I cn think of that wasn’t a positive was that Linda the finance person was visibly irritated ith us for not purchasing the packages – almost condescending. I would have prefered not to work with her – though she was efficient and I personally appreciate her staying late to accomodate us. I understand the goal of her job. We just didn’t wish to finance packages that we planned to later pay cash for.
After fixing my car, the check engine light turned on a few days later. Erik was so great about getting me back in on short notice, figuring out the problem and then even driving my car home to ensure there were no problems. I knwo that when I bring my car to him that I won’t be tricked or pushed into fixing things that aren’t broken. I trust him to take care of my car and look out for me at the same time. I really appreciate Erik’s customer service. He always goes above and beyond for me.

The reason I would buy a Volvo again would be because of your service department. I have known Jason the service manager since he started working with Barrier and have always trusted his honesty and integrity when discussing repairs needed for my Volvo’s. Even when I have forgotten to bring in your coupons for the discounts they have always given me the discounted price on the repair even without the coupon. When I brought my Volvo XC70 Chris informed me of a special they were running on the repair which was very welcomed. It’s your people and customer service that keeps me coming back for all of my service needs.
